Physiological Testing

Coming soon

Physiological Testing is coming soon to Velocity Performance Hub.

What is Physiological Testing?

At Velocity Performance Hub, our physiological testing suite provides the empirical data necessary to bridge the gap between effort and results.

By utilizing clinical-grade technology we move beyond generic estimates or algorithms to provide a precise blueprint of your unique physiology and biomechanics.

Metabolic and Endurance Testing

We offer comprehensive assessments to define your cardiovascular ceiling and fuel efficiency.

VO₂ Max Test A VO₂ max test measures the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize during intense exercise. It is a key indicator of cardiovascular fitness and endurance. The test involves exercising on a treadmill or bike with a mask that analyzes gas exchange, increasing in intensity until exhaustion. The test predicts endurance performance, highlights fitness weaknesses, and is a strong marker for longevity and cardiovascular health.

Metabolic Fuel Test This diagnostic test uses indirect calorimetry to measure how your body uses fuel, especially fats and carbohydrates at rest & during various intensities. The test is performed on a bike wearing our VO2 mask with intensity increasing every 4 minutes, measuring oxygen consumption & CO2 production. The test provides precise, personalized data to help with weight management, endurance training, and optimizing nutrition intake strategies by determining your metabolism at every level of intensity.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) This test measures calories burned for essential functions like breathing and circulation while at rest, accounting for 50-80% of daily energy expenditure. The test takes place in the morning while fasting for at least 6 hours and avoiding exercise for 12 hours. You will lie down, relax, and breathe into a specialized machine mask for 10-15 minutes. It identifies if you burn mostly fats or carbs at rest, and provides precise caloric needs for weight management, training sessions and racing.

Biomechanical and Movement Analysis

Performance is often limited by how you move, not just how much power you produce. We offer several movement analysis for more efficient execution.

Running Gait Analysis This in person session conducted by our VPH coaches analyze your running gait and your biomechanics. We use a treadmill, video sensors, 3D motion capture, and even live running on our trail to identify inefficiencies, injury risks, and optimal footwear. The session assesses factors like pronation, hip drop, leg spring stiffness and knee angles to improve performance and reduce injury. Beneficial for all levels, it includes personalized, actionable exercises to help avoid injury and increase performance.

Strength & Mobility Analysis Our in person Strength and Mobility Analysis at our Hub evaluate, measure, and track performance, focusing on joint range of motion, muscle strength, balance, and functional movement patterns. This evaluation is critical for injury prevention, identifying imbalances, and supporting aging. During the analysis you will be placed in positions where movement deficits become apparent to identify muscular weakness, proprioceptive deficits and a lack of mobility. We can observe poor biomechanics and movement compensations.

Swim Stroke and Technique Analysis An in-depth evaluation of your swimming technique, form & performance involving a detailed examination of your strokes, identifying inefficient movement patterns, muscular imbalances & mobility restrictions. We can offer experienced recommendations for all swimmers. Triathletes not only balance, but need to excel in 3 sports making efficiency crucial. Learn how to conserve energy during the swim so you excel in the bike and run stages. Masters swimmers face joint challenges related to aging. A swim analysis can offer suggestion to promote longevity in the sport.
